Sony has silently announced a new low end smartphone Sony Xperia E4 with a price range of a proper mid range smartphone. The new Xperia E4 looks similar to Sony Xperia E3 with few minor changes which does not make it any better with previous generation smartphone from Sony.
Though this new smartphone is not yet officially available in the market but it will be soon available in the markets. As per the latest news, Sony Xperia E4 wil cost around £100 in United Kingdom. Such pricing tactics for a low end smartphone does not look great and we feel that it will fail to make any impact in the market.
Specifications:
Display:
Xperia E4 has 5 inch display with 540×960 screen resolution. This is a perfect display for all those people who love texting or watching movies on the smartphone. The display is complemented with a beautiful design from Sony. This is in fact one positive thing about this smartphone.
Processor and GPU:
You will get MediaTek MT6582 chipset with quadcore 1.3 GHz Cortex A-7 CPU. Well, we are surprised to see a MediaTek chipset in Sony smartphone considering the fact that MediaTek isn’t one of the best when it comes to supporting its processors for future updates. As far as GPU is concerned you will get Mali-400MP2 which is a very decent GPU when it comes to running games.
RAM and Storage:
Sony Xperia E4 comes with 1 GB RAM and 8 GB internal storage. It also has microSD card slot which means you can also use external memory card if in case you run of out memory. However, this smartphone cannot handle a memory card of storage greater than 32GB which is a shame. This is one of the reason why we used the word low end smartphone for Xperia E4.
Camera:
This is another area which has greatly disappointed us. The primary camera is just 5MP and front snapper is 2MP. And we believe that the primary camera will fail just like Xperia E3 camera. However, we would like to see how much Sony has worked on the camera department.
Honestly speaking we are not greatly impressed with Sony Xperia E4 and the pricing strategy of Sony has annoyed us a lot.
