Nokia is no more mobile manufacturer since Microsoft has acquired the Nokia device and services business. There are speculations about Nokia starting a new business and now we have news that Nokia has stepped into Android development and the company’s very first Android software looks pretty impressive.
Nokia Android launcher named Nokia Z launcher looks very impressive and seems pretty good as compared to various other launchers available on Play store.
Though Android launchers actually forget what they are meant to do in trying out various things but this is not the cause with a sophisticated Nokia Android launcher. Nokia Z launcher learns from your habits and transforms itself as per your usage. Isn’t it great? This is something we have not seen before on Android.
On top of the screen you will find clock and calendar. Taping on any of these will lead to you default Android applications. At the bottom of the screen you get 5 shortcuts. You can arrange those 5 shortcuts as per your requirements or use 5 most use applications there.
Rest of the screen is occupied with few other shortcuts and webpages. Actually, Nokia Z launcher learns from your daily usage. It arranges applications on the screen according to your daily usage at different times of the day. Suppose you use some news application a lot in the morning and Facebook in the evening. Nokia Z launcher will learn your daily habits and will place the news app on top in the morning and Facebook application on top in the evening. This is what we call smart learning.
Now what about other applications? Well, other applications are just a swipe away. Just swipe on your main home screen and you will get other applications in somewhat windows phone UI. However, Nokia Android launcher has great nifty feature which allows you to type on the screen and get access to the application without looking for it in the app drawer.
Suppose you want Facebook. You will write F followed by A. As you keep typing more alphabets the search list will shorten up. This is indeed a great nifty feature on Nokia Z launcher which you will not find on any other launcher.
Supported Devices:
Nokia Android launcher is in its beta stage and is free at the moment. It supports a number of devices and this will extend to many other Android devices. However, if you own a rooted Android device then you will not be able to use Z launcher as it does not support rooted devices. You can download Nokia Android launcher from here.
Try Nokia Z launcher and let us know what you think about it.
