Few days back we witnessed the official announcement of the Amazon’s very first smartphone named the Fire Phone. though Amazon has high expectations from Fire phone but what we think is that Amazon phone will badly fail. Here are few reasons to justify us.
Fire Platform is not Good at all:
Though Fire phone is based on popular Google Android but Amazon has cut down the availability of Google services on the Fire platform. This means that you cannot enjoy all the perks of a pure Android operating system. Moreover, Fire platform has its own application store instead of Playstore which means that you will have access to 25% less applications and this is enough to annoy any normal mobile user.
Fire Platform does not offer customization features like Android. So, at the end of the day you will have to root your device in order to attain high level of customization just like Android. But why would someone root a highly expensive device??
Badly Priced:
Amazon has failed in pricing its devices according to the market standards. It is priced around $650 off contract which places it in the price brackets of Android giants like LG G3 and Samsung Galaxy S5. Now the question is, why would someone ditch devices like LG G3 and Samsung Galaxy S5 to buy Amazon phone for $650? A better pricing policy would have made people more excited about the device but at the moment there’s no excitement level among people for Amazon phone.
AT&T Exclusivity:
Another blunder by Amazon is to make this device AT&T exclusive. This has pissed many people out there and those who were interested in buying this phone has dropped the idea just because they do not want to get a phone on a 2 year contract. It is not just about the contract. It is also about pricing it badly even under the contract. A 32GB version of Amazon Phone is available for $199 under 2 year contract and for 64 GB version you will have to pay an extra 100 dollars. This insane pricing will certainly hinder the sale of Fire phone.
Software Features:
Fire platform is not developed to an extent that it could compete against Android or IOS. Moreover, this device comes with a bundle of Amazon features but those features are unlimited just for one year. After 1 year you will have to pay the annual fees in order continue those services. In short, this device is just the right for Amazon fans and for other people it is not the right device.
This is completely based on our perception. To know how well it performs in the market we will have to wait for some time.
It is a complete fail!!!
