Google announced the next version of Android, Android L in the Google developers Conference. Android L comes with a number of different features but the most exciting feature is the “Project Volta“. This project is aimed at improving the battery life of Android smartphones. Poor battery life has always been the major concern of Android users and with this new Android L Google has initiated Project Volta which is expected to improve the overall battery performance of Android smartphones.
The developer preview of Android L is already out and some guys at xda developers and Ars Technica are playing with the developer preview to find out how well the new version of Android does. Ars Technica carried out a battery test on a device running Android L and under very tight circumstances they were able to get 36% more battery life than Android KitKat. Interestingly no battery saver option was used and still they were able to get a 36% better battery life than Android KitKat.
Another great feature of Android L is battery saver option which automatically triggers as soon as battery reaches 15%. This feature works quite aggressively and makes sure that your device lasts for maximum time even with minimum amount of juice.
This experiment was carried out on a device running developers preview of Android L. Google is yet to release the commercial version of Android L so we can expect even better results on the commercial version of Android L. HTC has already promised to release Android L for HTC One M7 and HTC One M8 after 90 days of code release from Google. Let’s see how manufacturers implement the project volta with their battery saving options. We are sure this will certainly boost up your overall battery performance.
