This year’s IFA fair that is slotted for 5th September will see the expected launch of Sony’s next flagship smartphone, the Sony Xperia Z3. The phone will boast of a relatively simple design and will be entirely black. It will be relatively thin with specifications that seem to make it a minor update to the Xperia Z2.
The Sony Xperia Z3 is speculated to come with specifications such as a 5.15 inch screen with a resolution of 1920 x 1080p, it will be supported by 3GB of RAM, have a Snapdragn 801 that will clock as 2.4 Ghz, include 16GB of internal storage, have a 20.7 MP digital camera and come with a Adreno 330 GPU, all of which will be running on Android 4.4.4. KitKat. Notice that the megapixels do not change with the Sony Xperia Z3, simply because rather than piling on megapixels, Sony chooses to optimize the camera operation. Another aspect that will not be chanced in the smartphone’s display which will remain at 1080p. In essence, Sony is foregoing time that would be spent on focusing on QHD by channeling it towards the optimization of the phone’s performance with a full HD panel instead.
Speculations as to the phone’s interface include its having a metal frame that is covered in a PVC coating that gives it a mirror-like finish. It is also claimed to take on a much thinner form as compared to its flagship predecessor and have more robust abilities to stave off scrapes, dust and water. In terms of performance, the Sony Xperia Z3 is speculated to have the capability to have an overall performance of up to 7% faster than its predecessor.
Sony unlike its competitors, Samsung, HTC and Apple has not taken the normal road of waiting around for a year before updating their smartphones. This can be clearly seen by following its smartphone releases. The Xperia Z was released in February 2013, the Xperia Z1 came into the picture in September 2013, Sony Xperia Z2 followed closely behind with a seven month gap and now the Sony Xperia Z3 is expected in September 2014.
In addition, there is a rumor of a smaller version, the Xperia Z3 which is said to be in the works. The compact version is expected to come with a 4.5 inch screen, run 2GB of RAM, have a processor of 2.5 Ghz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801, Adreno 330 GPU and have a 2.1 megapixel front camera and a 20.7 megapixel back camera.
