Hewlett-Packard is making a smart watch, which works with iOS and Android devices. They have therefore started a collaboration with an American designer Michael Bastian, who previously worked for clothing brand Gant. Bastian is taking care of the design while HP is working on technology. The watch has many features. For example, it shows notifications, music remotely. It also allows you to view email on the watch, weather forecast, check stock prices and sports scores. The casing is made of stainless steel and has a diameter of 44 mm. The watch should be available through Gilt.com in this fall.
There is talk of three interchangeable watch straps or bands, so you can customize the watch at the time of the day or the activities you want to do.
The watch is not too surprising in itself. Other than the watches of Pebble and Motorola, it looks like a classic looking watch. Bastian wanted a watch design that is reminiscent of the interior of a luxury car. Hence the use of exotic leather for the wrist straps and a screen edge reminiscent of the dials on the dashboard. The dial combines analog with digital. There has been no released date yet, but there is talk about this coming fall. Let’s see!
The insertion of this watch is so totally different from the expected iWatch, which focuses on health and fitness, and will probably in the market in November. In a recent Apple patent, such watch is mentioned as ” iTime “.
