Few weeks back we heard that sapphire display is not at all cost effective therefore Apple might use it for few units of high end iPhone 6 like the 64GB version of iPhone Air. But according to the latest reports it is not true. The new Apple sapphire display is going to be highly cost effective and there is possibility that we might see this new display technology for all variants of upcoming iPhone 6.
The reports suggest that Apple has adapted some highly cost effective techniques which will benefit the company at the end of the day. The newly adapted technique for the production of Apple sapphire display is named “Hyperion“. This new manufacturing technique will help the company to reduce the overall cost of the sapphire display and make it more cost effective.
Basically, Apple is using low cost glass at the base and then covering it with a layer of sapphire glass. This added layer of sapphire gives it the protection and strength its requires. According to some expert this will cost as much or less than the manufacturing cost of Gorilla Glass 3. So, if these reports and opinions are to be believed then we might see new Apple sapphire display in all iPhone 6 units without boosting up the cost too much.
This sound quite legit as Apple will definitely try to use this new sapphire display technology in its upcoming iPhone 6 to make it stand out. This will certainly give it an edge over Samsung Note 4 which will be announced next month.
