In the latest meeting with Haier delegation it was assured that MITT (Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunications) and PTA (Pakistan Telecommunication Authority) will help Haier to set up first smartphone assembly and manufacturing plant of Pakistan by the end of this year. Haier has already set up a laptop manufacturing plant in Pakistan few months back and now the company is trying to break into the smartphone market by installing the first smartphone manufacturing plant in Pakistan. Haier Pakistan already holds a very good reputation in the refrigerators, air conditioners, television and other electronic appliances market.
Lately company is focusing a lot on its new established Haier Mobiles unit. Haier Pakistan is keen to expand its Haier Mobiles business across the company and according to the company a manufacturing plant in Pakistan will not only benefit the company but will also play a major role in boosting up the economy of Pakistan.

In this regard a meeting was held between Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunications, PTA and Haier Pakistan delegation where the delegation was assured full support from MITT and PTA. They agreed to work together on this project and complete the first smartphone manufacturing plant of Pakistan by the end of this year. The other major points discussed were to provide more clarity in SKD and tax policy to ensure better investment and creation of new jobs in the country.
This meeting was headed by Minister Anusha Rehman and was attended by secretary of MITT, Chairman PTA Dr. Ismail Shah and a delegation of Haier officials.
Although Haeir is in Pakistan market for years now and is a well known name in the electronics market but Haier Mobiles is a new addition to the smartphone market of Pakistan where companies like Samsung, Nokia, QMobile and Lenovo has a strong hold. It would be interesting to see how Haier break into a potentially strong smartphone market of Pakistan.
